B. Joseph Pine II is an internationally acclaimed author, speaker, and management advisor to Fortune 500 companies and entrepreneurial start-ups alike. He is cofounder of Strategic Horizons LLP, a thinking studio dedicated to helping businesses conceive and design new ways of adding value to their economic offerings. In 1999, Pine and his partner James H. Leslie F. Becker is currently Director of Design and former Chair of Graphic Design at California College of the Arts, San Francisco. In addition to graphic design studies, she teaches Visual Studies courses that address the ethical and social effects of design on popular culture. A practising designer for over thirty years, Leslie works in areas such as corporate graphics, signage systems and furniture. She has presented papers at design conferences and universities such as Tsinghua University, Beijing, Harvard University and University College, Dublin. In 2010, Leslie lectured for one week to design educators as a guest of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Her writing has appeared in multiple design magazines and texts. She holds a BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, an MA in Design and a PhD in Architecture/Theory and Methods from UC Berkeley. Her research area is design and ethics.
