Paul Sanders is Professor and Head of the School of Design in the Faculty of Creative Industries, Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He has published in international journals in the fields of architecture and urban design, and specializes in the field of urban morphology. Shannon Satherley

Shannon Satherley is a lecturer in Landscape Architecture at Queensland University of Technology, and has been involved in landscape architecture education in theory and practice since 2003. Shannon’s teaching is focused on the creation of externally engaged learning environments fostering active and interactive student and community learning. She has a strong related research focus investigating issues surrounding the balance between the processes and the outcomes of external student design projects. Shannon is also currently researching a PhD investigating the effects of landscape design on the manifestation of cultural values in deindustrialized landscapes. Kuniko Shibata

Kuniko Shibata, PhD, is Visiting Research Fellow of the Centre for Trans - disciplinary Gender Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin, and a URP Research Fellow of the Urban Research Plaza at Osaka City University in Japan. She has a PhD in Regional Planning on the history of the public interest in Japanese planning development in 2007 from the Department of Geography and Environ - ment at the London School of Economics and Political Science in the UK. Her academic research has focused on the relationships between planning, politics and the economy, including an analysis of regulatory framework, and the ideologies and roles of planning institutions in relation to the modern state development. She is currently working on the research project, ‘Mainstreaming Gender in European Cities: Comparative Studies of Urban Policy Development under Multi-level Governance’.
